Welcome to Impossible Tiles!

A free web game for hardcore puzzle fans... there are four modes of play, and a couple of them I'm not sure if a human can mathematically beat them, but it's also possible I'm just bad at this kind of puzzle lol. I need some really puzzly/mathy/Rubik's-Cube-thinking people to check it out.

This is a browser game to be played with a mouse. Click the tiles to try and match them all to the same color. Toggle a few different music tracks (or muted), animated background or none, 'pixel' or 'glossy' graphics style.

To be honest, this might be more of a proof-of-concept (just an idea I had) than something that's actually fun to play, but here it is for people to try in any case.

Thanks!

At least in A mode where I've studied this sort of puzzle, not all 5x5 boards can be solved (I believe other sizes don't have this property). If you want to guarantee that you generate only solvable puzzles, you'll need to start with a blank board, and apply the cross pattern at each tile a random number of times. If you just set each tile to a random state, you'll end up with soft-locks

That's... good to know! I guess it was hubris on my part to create something like before really understanding the math of it, heh. Thanks for the feedback, I'll take some input over time and see if I can update it in the future accordingly.
